Pre-arrival school interviews
Many of our teachers like the idea of coming straight into a teaching post so that they have job security and continuity. With a shortage of teachers in the UK, there are many schools open to this way of recruiting staff.
After your initial registration, Thames Teachers will assess your requirements and recommend a few posts at schools across London. We provide details information on each school for you to research before deciding to go ahead with an interview.
Schools will have seen your CV, references and our notes on you before making a shortlist. They might even call one of your past schools to get a feel for what you are like in the classroom!
The interview process will consist of a telephone or Skype interview. They usually take place over two to three sessions where you will have the opportunity to prove yourself to a few staff members, including Senior Management. If successful, you will start the job on arrival. Schools are sensitive to the fact that you are new in the country and will often allow you to join their Newly Qualified Teacher programs to guide you at the start of your UK teaching experience. We have found that even very experienced teachers benefit from these sessions.
