Visas
You will need to prove that you are eligible to work in the UK before you arrive so start your research early. The following will allow you to work in the UK:
Passports:
• UK Passport
• EU Passport – contact the relevant High Commission in New Zealand
Visas:
Tier 5 Youth Mobility Visa – the ‘2 year working holiday visa’
• You need to ensure you have eligibility by being under the age of 31 with a valid Australian passport and circa $3500) in your account on the date that you apply
• The processing time is about 3-4 weeks
• You can only begin the application process within 3 months of your intended arrival date
Ancestry Visa – for those that have grandparent(s) born in the U.K
• You’ll need relevant documentation to show your family links to the respective grandparent
• If you have lost any of these documents visit the General Register Office (the UK version of Births, Deaths & Marriages) to purchase new certificates at a low cost.
‘Join in the UK’ or ‘Remain in the UK’ – if you are married or in partnership with someone who has access to any of the above visas (with the excpetion of the Tier 5)
• Your travelling spouse/partner must already have their visa/passport back before you can apply for yours
• Suitable for those teachers with no other eligibility to a visa category
